I love history and reading. One of the most relaxing past-times for me is sitting with a good, historical (fiction or non) book. But, one step above that is buying an old book from an antique shop. There is not much better than that smell. I have numerous stacks of old books, but some of my favorites are old Bibles. Knowing that someone else used it and loved it, makes me love them all the more!
I agree! I love old books, but old Bibles are the best. I like the way you have these displayed.
ReplyDeleteI am wondering how old are these Bibles? This morning I found my old Bible. It was given to me at my graduation from high school. That was 55 years ago. I have it wrapped up to preserve it.
ReplyDeleteThey do look cool - but I'm not sure I agree with you on the smell, LOL! :)
ReplyDeleteThose certainly do look like you.....all that history. Wonder where you inherited that love from!
ReplyDeleteHi Heather and happy weekend. I love old books, too. I love Chip and Joanna's Fixer Upper show on HGTV and she always uses stacks of antique books in her decor. John gifted me a book from the late 1800's entitled "Mildred" which I treasure. I also have several family member's Bibles. I am catching up on your blog this morning...I just started a new blog. Hope you'll visit when you have a chance.
ReplyDeleteI'm right there with you, Heather. I love old books and Bibles, and also hymnals. I have some nice stacks that I use on shelves to display things (I don't use Bibles that way but books). Also I recently bought two used books about a true baseball story from Amazon. One of them came signed by the author (a professional baseball pitcher from many years gone by) and containing a letter written to the previous owner of the book. I found that all very interesting. xoxo
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentine's Day and Happy Birthday, Heather! xoxo
ReplyDeletestopping by to wish you a happy birthday!
