Curiousity killed the cat, but it didn't touch me!

Have you ever been curious about how much you use of something? I was, so I decided to find out.

I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2005. Since then I have poked my finger to check my blood sugar countless times (at least 4 times a day, which adds up in a hurry!). Last year I started to wonder how many test strips I go through in a year. So, I got a jar and started saving them. (Yes, I know, it is a little gross, but I'm diabetic and blood is a part of my life.)

Here is my full jar. Using a dry erase marker I keep count on the top. Any guesses?

500?

850?

1,000?

After one year, my grand total was 1,980. That is a lot of testing!

  4. At the breakfast table this morning Alan and I did a lot of talking as usual. We were discussing how it seems that God has set a path for believers and sometimes that path is not always easy. It seems to be predetermined and we are asked to lean on the Lord, not to lean on our own understanding. God has a purpose and a plan. Without that hope, we could find ourselves disoriented. I thank the Lord that you find your orientation in the Lord. He has given you such a find man to support you. I am glad that you are not overwhelmed by the sight of those tests strips, but your hope is in the Lord. On a lighter note, maybe there is some craft you can make with them. (wink, wink)

  6. Wow, that is incredible! Wish you didn't have to deal with it all. :( Praying that someday there will be a cure!! With the way technology is going, maybe soon you can have a robotic pancreas! (I mean one inside your body, since you kind of have one outside your body already!)
