Feeding Time

The day finally came. The day we got to experience by birthday gift to Andrew. He got to help feed the Magellanic Penguins at our local zoo. We were given a behind the scenes tour first, and then I went back out front to take pictures, while he went into the enclosure with Jamie, one of the zoo workers, to feed them.

He got to pet this little guy, who was waiting at the door when they walked in. He also tried to escape with them. Luckily, they have a 2 door system just for these moments!

They each sat on a rock. The penguins were very excited!

This little gal is Lola. It is her rock that Andrew is sitting on. She is very affectionate and friendly and seemed to like Andrew. She tried walking around behind him and getting more fish from his other side. I think she would have been happiest if he just set the bowl of fish down for her!

This is Herbie. He is almost completely white. He is the oldest penguin they have at almost 35 years old. He has been around for a while and knows that if he just hangs out in his burrow the keepers will bring the food to him. Smart little bugger.

It was such an amazing adventure. We had a blast and would highly recommend it to everyone!
