I was in a bit of a baking mood after dinner tonight, so I went to Pinterest to see if I had saved any good ideas. I love Pinterest. There are so many great ideas for anything you could possibly ask for.

I scoured the recipes that I have saved and came across one for scones. I love scones. I had not tried this recipe before and it spoke to me. It would be the perfect thing to finish off my night.

They are fabulous!! Quick and easy to make, and the perfect sweet dessert to finish off a meal (or maybe to eat for breakfast). I think they would be great anytime of the day!

Glazed Cinnamon Scones

Scone Ingredients:
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter
1 egg, separated
3 Tablespoons honey
1/3 cup buttermilk (or 1/3 cup milk mixed with 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice)

Crumb Topping (can be adjusted to your liking):
1-2 Tablespoons Sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Glaze Ingredients (can be adjusted to your liking):
1 cup powdered sugar
1-3 teaspoons milk (enough to make a glaze)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly.
Separate the egg white and yolk. Set the egg white aside.
In a separate bowl, mix egg yolk, honey and buttermilk (or milk/lemon juice mixture). Add to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
Form dough into a ball on a floured surface. Roll or pat out to half an inch in thickness and eight inches in diameter. Cut into eight equally-sized pieces.
Transfer to a greased baking sheet. Whisk the egg white until froth forms and brush over the tops of scones. Mix sugar and cinnamon together and sprinkle over egg-white-topped scones.
Bake at 400 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
Mix together powdered sugar, milk and vanilla until glaze forms. Drizzle over scones after they bake.

  1. I've never made scones before but I do love them. Thanks for this recipe. Love your photo. Mildred

  2. Yum! But the question is - are they as good as your lemon blueberry scones? And - Did Andrew like them too?

  3. Yum...I wish I had one with my morning coffee!!

  4. That looks so good. I bet it tastes a bit like the pizza ranch dessert pizza!

  5. that looks yummy! I was thinking the same as Cheri - pizza ranch cactus bread

  6. I LOVE scones, but I cannot eat wheat flour and anything made with gf flour just doesn't hit the spot. Your recipe sounds wonderful. It is so tempting, but I know the pain I would be in if I ate one, so eat another for me, dear Heather.

  7. I've never made scones but these sound good and easy. Thanks!
